Tony Perez, who has spent over two decades eloquently dissecting the Filipino Psyche, is an important playwright in contemporary Philippine drama. A prolific playwright with several volumes of published works, his plays deal with adult themes such as intense love, betrayal, separation, compassion, poverty, hunger, marriage, birth, and death. This trilogy traces his artistic development as a playwright. Sierra Lakes is a tension-filled play that explores issues among four people caught in a complicated web of love and desire. Bombita is a black comedy which questions the blind obedience and subservience behaviour of young rookies in the military. Funny, but almost in a pathetic way, it reveals the emotional and intellectual challenges of our men in uniform. A psychological drama, Nobyembre, Noong Akala Ko’y Mahal Kita is the second play in the multi-awarded playwright’s thought-provoking trilogy about love, friendship and companionship, and their consequences in our lives.

Now one of the most performed shows in America, "Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ("Ragtime," "Once On This Island") have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Will Think" as the spirit of imagination transports the colorful characters from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

For this version, certain plot elements have been simplified and runs approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes - perfect for presentation in schools.

The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.   
          

Lea Salonga Named As One of The Judges of Miss Universe 2011

Miss Universe Organization, spearheaded by its president Paula M. Shugart and NBC Universal head Donald J. Trump, made the announcement of who will be the judges on the 60th Miss Universe pageant.  Miss Universe 2011 will be heald on Credicard Hall, Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12.

Live Telecast will be aired in the Philippines on ABS CBN Channel 2.

Pinay international theater actress and singer, Lea Salonga will be part of the panel of judges.  Others will be Helio Castroneves, a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500; Connie Chung, US broadcast legend; Isabeli Fontana, Brazilian supermodel; Vivica Fox, actress and television producer; Adrienne Maloof of Bravo's hit series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills; at Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2003.

Andy Cohen and Natalie Morales will be hosting the event.

Men with Guitars - A Must-See Event for Guitar Lovers

Watch prize winners of the 1st Philippine International Guitar Competition 2011 Ramoncito Carpio and Arthur Erskine Basilio perform together in “Men with Guitars”. Ramoncito Carpio won the top prize in the 2st Philippine International Guitar Competition 2011, 3rd Prize in the 2011 Singapore International Guitar Competition, 3rd Prize in the 2010 Bangkok International Competition and 2nd Prize in the 2009 NAMCYA Guitar Competitions, Category C. Arthur Erskine Basilio won the special prize as “Best Filipino Guitarist” in 1st Philippine International Guitar Competition 2011 and 3rd Prize int eh 2006 NAMCYA Guitar Competitions, Category C. A must see for guitar lovers.

Ballet Philippines Presents INAMORATA at CCP

Ballet Philippines presents INAMORATA, which highlights the versatility and range of the country's premier professional ballet and contemporary dance company. Celebrating the many Faces of Eve, it shows classical pieces like "The Dying Swan" and all new pieces by the country's top choreographers like Alden Lugnasin and Denisa Reyes. Guest artists include sopranos Rachelle Gerodias and Camille Lopez Molina, while fashion designers Rajo Laurel, Ito Curata, Jojie Lloren and Lulu Tan Gan design the costumes.
